Korea 2023 13/16 : Last Day in Busan and Short Trip to Daegu

“Not every day needs to feel amazing. Some days are simply meant to be lived — quietly, gently, and without pressure.”

Day 13 - Saturday, May 6, 2023

Busan in the morning

I am planning to go to Daegu this morning since I checked it's pretty close from Busan, so I checked out earlier, I am planning to store my luggage at Busan Station locker that morning. Anyway I am going to Daegu with my roommate in Busan, she's Malaysian but living at New Zealand for some time. That morning was downpour, it really sucks because I was soaked by the time arriving at the station so I need to change my clothes at the subway before heading to Busan station. My shoes also got soaked so luckily I brought two shoes for this trip. You know that feeling when you already prepared what kind of outfit that day but you gotta change it since I didn't have any choice.

We took an ITX to Daegu, since I bought the Korail Pass so I will use it today, I can take KTX to get there faster but we decided to take ITX instead. ITX is a little bit slower than KTX but still more faster than Mugunghwa. Once we arrived at the Busan Station, I searched a locker and took the Large size to store my bags (KRW 6,500). We hopped into ITX to Daegu (08.22 - 09.48), it took only 1.5 hours journey. It was also downpour in Daegu, so we thought that we should go to indoor site to avoiding rain for a while.

at Busan Station, ready to go to Daegu

still downpour at Daegu

First Stop at Daegu - Hyangchon Cultural Center

We walked to Hyangchon Cultural Center, based on recommendation from tourist information at Daegu Station. We explored the center and it's really fun, entrance fee is KRW 1,000, they provided locker to put our bags etc. They also have uniform costumes or hanbok that you can wear at the center, so you can take pictures wearing it, it's free.

There were not so many people when we went there. This cultural center is soo cute, they have so many cute spots to take pictures. They have few floors you can explore for.

welcome~

you can choose and wear the costumes there

feels like back to old Daegu

Gyesan Park

After exploring the cultural center, we headed to this park, actually we didn't have itinerary on that day, we were pretty flexible with the itinerary, it's like let's see what to to and decide there. We saw on google maps, there's a park nearby the cultural center so we want to take a look. It's a pretty nice park.

Jungang Tteokpokki

There was this place selling Teokpokki that I was curious about, so we walked to find this place. There was a line, so we need to wait for a while before our turns. It was still light rain. So we will get a number, and how to order, we need to wait until the staff calling your number, when they called out your number you can tell them what do you want to order. I love tteokpokki, it's amusing they served tteokpokki with big size and also they have flat mandu, we ordered those, anyway they actually have menu for mixed tteokpokki and flat mandu, if you got there alone, you might want to order that menu, it cost KRW 4,500 each.

raining but ppl still queuing for tteobokki

Kim Kwang Seok Street

I read that there were this street full of mural, so I would like to visit this street. I don't know but I just love seeing mural on the street. It still raining, it's like raining all day. We took a bus to go to this street, and yeah there were so many mural of Kim Kwang Seok, this street is dedicated to him, a musician from Daegu. I love the vibes in this area, and it's really a fun place to visit in Daegu. We spent quite some time wandering on this area.

let's explore the street

mural is everywhere

I would like to visit another place again but thinking that I have to go to Seoul on that day, so we decided to part ways, so I'm heading back to Busan Station by KTX, and then I am taking KTX to Seoul on that night. I bought a sandwich for my dinner on that night that I took at KTX to Seoul (KRW 3,900). Anyway the Korail Pass only giving you numbered seat only 2 times for KTX, so I booked the seat only for KTX Busan to Seoul. Aside from that it's free seating, so I took a seat between the platform on the train when I took KTX from Daegu to Busan.

put my luggage there and sit on the free seating area

Kimchee Haeundae Guesthouse

I stayed in Busan for 4 nights, I took the One Bed in Eight Persons Female Dormitory Room. Anyway surprisingly it's very cheap like Rp 765,473 (around KRW 65,000) in total for 4 nights, what a good deal. I have no expectations staying here since I booked the 8 persons dormitory yet with that cheapest deals but it's spacious enough to put the luggage in the room, they also provide locker & bathroom inside the room. For locker, you may use your own padlock. That's a really good thing for staying at dorm tho' and I am very satisfied haha. And they also have elevator, that's important if you carry big luggage. It's pretty crowded in the guesthouse especially at night like ppl show up there, make new friends, eating together and having fun. I also make new friends there like everyday, it's really fun atmosphere and I felt so comfortable there. They also have kitchen so you can cook there, even tho I only made ramyeon all the time or I will just heading out for eating. Oh and the convenience store just next to it, how convenience is that, and it's walkable distant to Haeundae Beach so I think I went to the beach like everyday since it's nearby.

Back to Seoul

Arrived at Seoul Station, I am heading to Hongdae where I am going to stay for few days before going back home. That night I am going to stay at Batwo Stay Hongdae (1xBed in 4-Bed Mixed Dormitory Room) for 2 nights (Rp 588,776). The best part of this gueshouse is the washing machine for free, I washed all my clothes on that night, they also have the dryer, I love ittt. And the owner was soo nice and welcoming. They also have free breakfast and the people there were sooo kind, I love my stay at Batwo Stay.

Thank you for reading my travel diaries and take care.
