Malang 2023 1/3 : Escape to Malang

Day 1 - Thursday, June 1, 2023

I have been to Malang but only for Sempu Island, this time I got a chance to visit and explore this city. I bought flight ticket via Tiket.com (Rp 1,985,149/pax), Super Air Jet to Surabaya depart on 4.45 pm because it was too expensive for direct flight to Malang, the flight took around 1 hour 25 minutes. I went with a friend of mine, we stayed at Surabaya for a night before taking the train to Malang. During the flight we got snacks and also meal from the airplane due to an hour delayed. We took Grabcar from Juanda Airport to the hotel. 

We stayed at Life Puri Hotel Surabaya for a night, it's really cheap, Rp172,518/night/room, so it's only around Rp 86k/person. We kind of starving that night so we ordered online Pecel Pincuk Madium Mbak Sum for dinner, it's so tastyy that I would like to order again if I get a chance.

Day 2 - Friday, June 2, 2023

We had Soto Madura Gubeng for breakfast before going to the station. Ohh we spotted Tuku coffee in the gas station so we went for the coffee in that morning. After good breakfast, we heading to Surabaya Gubeng Station to catch our train to Malang, it cost Rp 65k/person for the train to Malang.

We stayed at Trix House for 2 nights (Rp 837,915/2 nights) the hotel was quite new when we went there because at some point we could still smell the paint.

Our first destination for that day was Kampung Warna Warni, a colorful village, it's really hot that day since we explored outside during mid-day. Wandering the village, it's pretty big though that we explored it for some time. We had lunch at Rawon Nguling.

Since it's so hot, we decided to have ice cream at Toko "Oen", the cafe vibes more into vintage, I like their shopfront. From there we went to the square (Alun - Alun), I love visiting square of the city since you could find so many locals hanging out there. It was pretty crowded when we went there. Next destination was this area called, Kampoeng Heritage Kajoetangan. The vibes around here was really nice, you can also find cute coffee shop around this area, wandering this area was a good option to explore the city.

Exploring and wandering that day made us tired and need a cup of coffee so we hopped into thia cafe, Mmmm, we ordered coffee and cake. For dinner, we went to Nasi Goreng Resek, surprisingly it's so delicious, how come the guy cooked a lot of rice like that, awesome!

That's it for day one at Malang, we went back to our hotel to get some rest. We actually didn't make itinerary for this Malang trip, so we discussed what we're going to do for tomorrow.
