Beautiful view at Wairinding Hill
Day 3 - Saturday, 13 October 2018

We stayed already at Rumah Budaya and this Rumah Budaya is actually part of itinerary because they have museum to learn some of Sumba's cultures. There are 2 building for the museum but at that time there was only one museum that opened.

The guide of the museum telling us some stories of Sumba Cultures, he said most of Sumba's people still uphold the Animism belief or they call it Marapu. For the traditional house, you can see if the house has an unique shape like they have high roof. It's separate from 3 parts, lower part for animals, middle part for human and higher part for the harvest.

what a big sweet potatoes, on the way to Prai Ijing Village
From there we started left West Sumba and heading to East Sumba while will stop for some destination in our itinerary. Next stop is Kampung Adat Prai Ijing (Prai Ijing Village), This village is memorable because the people that live there were really nice and welcome to visitors. The nice spot to see the picture of whole village is on the top, once you enter the village just turn to the right and you will find that nice spot. I heard once in a week there is a foreigner will come and teach the kids how to speak English which is good. When we arrived there, there were some lovely kids welcoming us by singing the children songs even in English.

We also spotted the villagers held a tradition to sacrifice the black pig because there was a new house that just built and it's part of their tradition, so they need to sacrifice black pig when they built a new house.
Welcome to Prai Ijing Village
they keep wanting to go to school even not wearing shoes :)

The Traditional House of Sumba
still hold the tradition
Go on to our next destination, Lapopu Waterfall, the highest waterfall in East Nusa Tenggara with height 90 meters, of course we need to trekking but the track was not hard, the water was so clear and so refreshing against the heat of the sun. We spent some time there before going more into the East Sumba since we will stay there on that night until our last day at Sumba.

Some friends are swimming at the waterfall, we also drink coconut which we strongly remember the taste of the coconut because it's reallyyy goood (Rp 10,000/pcs). We enjoyed the coconut, while waiting for others to come from the waterfall, There are no people sell at the waterfall so if you want to eat or drinks, they sell it around the park area. There was no toilet too at the waterfall.
entrance fee, feel bad with the foreigner's price ;(

After around 2-3 hours from Lapopu Waterfall, we arrived at this hills which I can say, it's one of the highlights of Sumba Island. Bukit Wairinding (Wairinding Hill), surprisingly no need to trekking, when we just parked our car and climb up just a little bit we will find this place automatically so charming yet mesmerizing. What a spectacular view! Highly recommended! We took lots of picture there since every spot is sooo great to take picture. We waited until sunset there and sooo beautiful. I love this place!

That was our last destination for that day, and then we heading to our hotel to sleep. So we will stay in this hotel until the last day. Tanto Hotel, the hotel was nice and we got each private room so 2 persons for each room with aircon and wifi, toilet inside, breakfast included. It's really tiring for that day but sooo fun and can't wait to see what's next for tomorrow.
